To kick off Dr. Seuss Celebration week we made ooblek in the science lab! We talked about liquids and solids and we experimented and saw how ooblek could become a little bit of both! Dr. Seuss celebration week is the week of February 26th-March 2nd
On Monday wear GREEN for "oo-bleck! It's Monday" On Tuesday it's Cat in the Hat Tuesday so wear a HAT! On Wednesday it's wacky Wednesday so dress WACKY! On Thursday dress as your FAVORITE DR. SEUSS CHARACTER On Friday come dressed in your PAJAMAS. It's Dr. Seuss's birthday and we read all day!

We have been living like writers and like scientists! Both scientists and writers notice all the details in the world around them. Writers/scientists write and draw all the small details. Scientists and writers use lots of fancy words! We used the charts, books, and other resources in the class room to help us. We wrote about rocks using our senses and using our knowledge of rock properties and types of rocks! You might have heard the songs on seesaw, in math we are working on measurement! Length, Height, weight, and capacity! The students worked on length, practicing the measuring rules: use the same unit of measure, no gaps, and no overlaps! Here are some pictures of meatball measuring!
The 100th day of school is one of my favorite days because it allows me to reflect on how much we have learned since the beginning of the year and think about how much we are continuously learning in this classroom. We have been learning about how to use senses to investigate our world and the students have taken it upon themselves to build an inquiry table in our classroom. This picture was taken at the beginning of the week so it has grown since!! At recess the students have been collecting rocks and trying to classify them through observation of their physical properties! In math we will be using our math unit of measurement to observe the length and weight of the rocks we found! Here are some pictures from the 100th day!
