Yesterday we got to Skype with a teacher who taught in Uganda in Africa. We learned all about her job and how they call her Auntie because they treat teachers like family there (: We learned that her students love to play soccer and even play games with old tires. It was so interesting! We learned so much! Then Today we got to Skype with a policeman who lives in Worcestershire, England. He told us all about how he helps people in England and the tools he uses. On Friday we went to the science lab and learned how to collect measurement data. At the end of the year we will measure ourselves again and see if the measurements changed! Speaking of data and growing! We have been working on our sight words. I am taking sight word data and the kids are also self tracking their own sight word data and watching themselves grow as they learn new sight words! I have attached the sight word list below the pictures so students can practice at home! (:
The students have been loving using technology in the classroom and computer labs! Some exciting news is that you will be getting your usernames and passwords for reading eggs and seesaw in the Thursday folder. Reading Eggs is a great site that your kids can do at home! And Seesaw is an awesome way for you to see and comment on your students work! So look out for those logins in the blue Thursday folders!
Speaking of technology! The students have also been enjoying Ms. Severson's digital citizenship lessons. Below they are pictured telling which websites are green light websites (kid friendly) and which ones are red light sites. I wanted to share some pictures from our trip to the garden and Spirit Day from Friday (go yellow team!) Sorry I am posting them late, Labor Day Weekend threw my posting off and now I am back on track! Also, if you want to see our new South Africa inquirer display that went up today check it out the Social Studies tab!
