Storybook character day is on Monday! It's such a fun day! Here is a picture of me and some other teachers dressed as Pete the Cat 2 years ago if you need some inspiration! Also the administration has sent an email to all the parents in the school about taking a parent survey. Here is the link if you did not receive it
Today in writing we wrote about things we found in nature. Last week we were like Christopher Columbus and EXPLORED the school grounds. Then like scientists we OBSERVED what we had discovered. Then like writers we are, we DESCRIBED what we found using strong descriptive words.
Our new IB unit is called How We Express Ourselves which is an inquiry into the ways in which we discover and express ideas, feelings, nature, culture, beliefs and values. We will look at the ways in which we reflect, extend, and enjoy our creativity. The central idea is that symbols are used to represent information, beliefs, and values of a culture. Our next unit in math will be on shapes! Students will need to identify both 2D and 3D shapes, noting that 3D shapes are solid and 2D shapes are flat. They will identify shapes regardless of their orientations or overall size. Students will also learn to describe objects in the environment using names of shapes, and describe the relative positions of these objects using terms such as above, below, beside, in front of, behind, and next to. Can your student make a picture book about some of the shapes you have around your house? What shapes did they find? Were they 2D or 3D? Here is the new October homework choice board
