Dear Kindergarten Parents and Students, March 2nd to March 6th will be all about Dr. Seuss! Please follow this schedule so that you may be prepared to come along with us on our fun and exciting adventures with DR. SEUSS! Oo-bleck Monday~ We will get messy with Bartholomew and the Oobleck making some Ooey Gooey Oobleck of our very own in the science lab! Cat in the Hat Tuesday~ Wear a hat, because we will be focusing on the books The Cat in the Hat and The Cat in the Hat Comes Back. Wacky Wednesday~ Wear mixed up clothing (shirts on backwards, inside out, etc.) Encourage your kids to dress as wacky as they can! We will read the story, Wacky Wednesday! Dr. Seuss Mystery Character Thursday~ Your teacher will choose their favorite Dr. Seuss book to read to the class. Dress as your favorite Dr. Seuss Character. It’s Pajama Day Friday~ Come dressed in your pajamas! We will we read all day and do fun activities! This week we finished up our Measure Mania Toy Story themed activities on length and height. Next week we will continue to work on weight and begin working on capacity! We are so excited about Seuss week next week! We tied in our Sharing the Planet IB unit, persuasive writing unit, England (country of study), and Dr. Seuss by listening to the Lorax and writing persuasive posters about how to stop pollution in the many Rivers in England. We also discussed that pollution does not just occur in England, it happens everywhere! Students noticed people have even been littering on the Heards Ferry playground! I love how this unit inspires students to take action and make change! Mrs. Brannon and I took their persuasive posters and made them into a Lorax display outside the classroom (:
