Even though it was a short week it was a good one! We talked about, wrote about, reflected on, and shared our experiences from the days school was cancelled for the storm. We not only shared our experiences with each other but posted our first seesaw post to the app sharing our experience with our parents. We also read the book Brave Irene and talked about the CONNECTIONS we had with the book.
We talked about text to text connections and that is when one book reminds us of another book. The class was excited to share that the book Strega Nona we read in the beginning of the year reminded them SO much of the Magic Porridge Pot book that the mystery reader read to us last week! "both characters didn't follow directions!!!" "Both pots overflowed with food" We talked about text to self connections, which is when a book reminds us of something that we experienced. The wind in Brave Irene reminded us of the strong storm winds that we experienced from Irma. In the book the wind was ripping branches of trees. "That happened in my backyard!" "My dad made me pick up all the sticks scattered everywhere from the storm!"
