Math: Please watch the “addition key words” instructional video. This will be posted on seesaw. Sign into SeeSaw using your Classlink login or QR code. Go to the activities tab and find the assignment below. Reading: When we read a fiction book, we can identify the characters in the book. Choose a picture book. Read the book or have someone read it to you. Then do the following: ▪ Identify the characters. ▪ Draw a picture of the characters in the book. ▪ Label the characters. ▪ How you would describe the characters? Post to Seesaw when finished. Phonics: Find the phonics activity on Seesaw for Magic E. Watch the video and then have your child read the CVC words. They will add the Magic E and then rewrite the new word. Don’t forget to record them reading the new words :) Writing: We are going to begin a new type of book – All About Books. Go on a search around your house or outside and look for things you know about. Take a picture of two things and post them on Seesaw. Science: Go onto BrainPop Jr. through Classlink and watch “The Lifecycle of Plants “ https://jr.brainpop.com/science/plants/plantlifecycle/ Take the easy quiz at the end. Math: Addition- Using a Number line strategy Please watch the “Super ADDler number line strategy” instructional video. This will be shared as a post on seesaw. Sign into Seesaw using your Classlink login or QR code. Go to the activities tab and find the assignment below Reading: Login to RAZ kids to find a fiction book OR choose a fiction book from home. Using the “Avid Readers” anchor chart, practice feeling what the characters are feeling. Draw a picture of a scene from your book.

Tell them why they should help you. Science: Research a flower in your country of study (McKernan-India, Frank- France, Adler-England, Schiavone-China, Makant-Japan, and Kout-Australia) Once you find the flower take a picture and share facts about it on seesaw . Math: Addition- Using a Number line Strategy There will be an attachment in your email with blank number lines for extra practice that you can print out if you choose to do so. Please watch the “Addition Using a Number Line” instructional video. This will be an attachment in your email. Sign into SeeSaw using your Classlink login or QR code. Go to the activities tab and find the assignment below. Reading: When we read a fiction book, we can identify the characters in the book. Choose a picture book. Read the book or have someone read it to you. Then look at each picture and think, “What might the character be thinking or feeling?” ▪ Use a post it note or a piece of paper and make a speech bubble. ▪ Write inside the speech bubble what the character might be thinking or feeling. Phonics: On Seesaw, you will find an activity titled “SH Digraph Poem” Use the highlighter tool to highlight the words that begin with sh, then use the voice tool to read the poem to your teacher. On the next page, see how many words you can come up with that begin with ‘sh’ and end with ‘sh’. (ship, shock, shin, wish, fish, cash) Writing: We’re finishing up persuasive writing, so it’s time to show what you know. Pick a problem to write about over the next three days. Go to the activities tab and find the assignment below. . Reading: Readers get ready to read by thinking about the text. They do this by:

Then, follow the steps above. Read. Were you correct in your predictions? What did you have to change in your thinking? On the next page, come up with your own sentence that has a ‘th’ word. Then draw a picture to match your sentence. Writing: Continue working on your “How-To Make a Change Book”. Check your work with the “How-To Writing” anchor chart and the “Making Writing Easy to Read” chart. Science: Go on a nature walk around your neighborhood and search for 2 plants/flowers (you will need 2 for tomorrow.) Take a picture of one of the plants today and label its parts (roots, stem, leaves, and flower) and put it on seesaw. Phonics: On Seesaw, you will find an assigned activity titled “Ch Digraph Poem”. Use the highlighter tool to highlight the words that begin with CH, then use the voice tool to read the poem. On the next page, draw and label a picture of your favorite food that has the ‘ch’ sound. Writing Watch the “Writing a How-To Make a Change” Video. Start a How-To Make a change book. Pick an important problem to write about. Give reasons to tell people why they should make a change, and then list the steps for making that change. Reading: Select a book from your home or library to read with a partner. Talk about the book with your partner using the questions below:
Phonics: Final Consonant Blends Watch the video below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-1rmuOxGE8&t=1s Using a sheet of paper or a whiteboard, have your student write the final consonant blend they hear at the end of the words in the See It. Write It. Interactive Powerpoint attached to your email. (they do not need to write the whole word, only the final blend) For example: if the image shows the word “insect” your child will write “ct”. Today’s words will be: Insect, earth, ant, curl, reflect, bulb, milk, shark, salt, cold, act, pearl, point, bookshelf, belt, dust, desk *Through slide #38 Writing: Make a sign or poster telling others why they should read your favorite book. Make sure to include all the reasons that you came up with yesterday. Use your writing checklist to make sure that your poster is easy to read and then add pictures and colors to grab reader’s attention! There will be posters in your Monday attachment for each strategy.** Addition-Drawing a Picture Strategy Please watch the “Addition Using Pictures” instructional video. This will be an attachment in your email. Students will draw a picture for each addend below the equation and count all the pictures to find the sum. This will be an attachment in your email. Reading: Authors write books. Illustrators draw the pictures for the books. These two people work together to help you understand a book. Choose a book to read or have someone read it to you. ▪ Who is the author? ▪ Who is the illustrator? ▪ Read (or have someone read the book to you). As you are reading, look at the pictures. ▪ Talk about what you see in the picture. ▪ Then, find one thing that you notice in the picture that was not stated in the book. ▪ Write this on a paper and post to Seesaw. Phonics: Complete the Phonics activity in Seesaw. Drag each picture to the correct digraph What is your favorite food? Write a sentence about it and give three reasons why it is so good. Compile a list of ideas of what your child may want to create and have your child draw what they what their project to look like .
